Hollywood Said About This Actress - "The Biggest Star in the World - and she's not in Beverly Hills"

Madhubala is considered as the most beautiful actress to grace the bollywood.  He was a superstar and had great smile.  Her talent was also equal to her beauty.


Madhubala was born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi on 14 February 1933. She was the fifth kids amongst her 11 brothers and sisters.



She was introduced to Bollywood at the age of 9.  She had to look for work as her father lost his job.  The name Madhubala was given to her by Devika Rani, the famous actress for yesteryears.



A magazine in Beverly hills wrote this about Madhubala in 1960s - "The Biggest Star in the World - and she's not in Beverly Hills".  She was one of the first actor from India to get offer from Hollywood.  Her father did not let her go.

Her most famous movie was Mughal-E-Azam in which she played Anarkali.  This movie went on to become the most successful movie of that time till Sholay broke the record after 15 years.


Madhubala had ventricular septal defect (hole in her heart) which was detected while she was shooting for Bahut Din Huwe in Madras in 1954.



Madhubala and Dilip Kumar had affair but it did not culminate in marriage.  She later married Kishore Kumar in 1960.



She passed away at a young age of 36 leaving her fans bereaved..  On March 18, 2008, a commemorative postage stamp featuring Madhubala was issued.
